Be cautious with these products. My Heath Zenith chime achieved nowhere near the advertised range. Also despite saying it went through walls and floors, it failed to do so. I would a) keep the receipt. b) Position the chime where you intend to hang it and trigger the push-button (with the door closed), before you drill any holes.
